What happens if/when the denuclearization of North Korea actually occurs? I don't like Trump either, but man, wouldn't that be one of the greatest presidential accomplishments of the last 50, 100 years? Objectively speaking, is Trump still **all** bad?

    • Fun true fact: North Korea previously pledged denuclearization in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.kona
    • Each pledge was a lie. If you believe any promise Kim made to Trump, I have five failed casinos in Atlantic City to sell you.kona
    • Back to the hypothetical though, what happens IF...MondoMorphic
    • what makes it the greatest presidential accomplishment? especially considering he dismantled the Iran nuclear deal etc.lowimpakt
    • maybe the problem is the the scale of threat was uncertain & I'm sure they haven't forgotten that the US killed 20% or their population in the 50slowimpakt
    • Sure, if one considers NK's denuclearization "no big deal," then it's not a significant achievement at all. haha It seems significant to me though.MondoMorphic
    • For starters, NOTHING has happened, and second, their testing facility collapsed. Let's see where this is in a few years. Right now it's a charade.formed
    • One of the comedy news shows' polls suggested 71% of people hoped peace with NK was a charade just so that Trump wouldn't get credit...MondoMorphic
    • ...and it would seem QBN folks' unwillingness to participate in this hypothetical supports Michelle Wolf’s poll.MondoMorphic

    • Pretty sure that question was asked by a comedian and not everyone is answering seriously.yuekit
    • Of course if peace with North Korea succeeds and they give up all their nukes (which remains to be seen, the process could take decades) it's a good thing.yuekit
    • But does Trump himself deserve credit for that, considering his role in all this seems to consist of showing up for a photo op with Kim Jong-Un?yuekit
    • Hopefully that photo op helps gets the ball rolling, but it's just a small part in a long and uncertain process.yuekit
    • and given Trump's record of only caring about photo ops, changing his mind and randomly liking/hating people, I'd say this was good reality tv so far at best.formed
