    If Americans were serious about net neutrality there would be a candidate who would run for office proposing a "New Deal" type scenario where a nationalized digital infrastructure would be a top priority, to which pubilc internet would be a right / utility and could compete with Comcast / Time Warner the same way the USPS exists alongside FedEx and UPS.

    The program would create a ton of jobs- both in physical development of the necessary links and the digital creation and maintenance - and while we're at it we may as well do a revitalized physical infrastructure revamp that rebuilds national highways, bridges and state roads.

    Of course it would have to be paid for by increasing the tax rate on major corporations and wealthy individuals, and for whatever stupid ass reason most Americans get terrified at the prospect of taxing the rich, while half of their taxes already go to bombing poor people all over the world.

    Everyone instead will keep paying Comcast whatever they ask for just for the privilege of uploading a gif of the FCC chair eating a dick. Whatever kids.
