I read that Russian hooligan groups are fronts for trained and armed nationalist militias using the sports as an excuse to train and set up hierarchy, and the current regime is taking advantage of the coming world cup to crack down on them. For example, mass fights in forests have been raided and participants arrested.

BTW, looks like a good documentary-

    • Russian hooligans next level, not even hooligans, as it says here, sober, working in teams, trained etc. The English got a kicking big time in marseilles, feelfadein11
    • sorry for the innocent fans obviously but we've dished it out enough in the past. Was a wake up call for many. Unlikely to happen in world cup though, thosefadein11
    • guys accept orders from the top down and it's not in Russian interest at all.fadein11
    • I watched this its pretty interesting. They were speculating that the Russian FA from Putin down sponsored them to go to the Euro to send a message.lodef
    • fade, have you heard anything about the English hooligans training for Russia? Getting ready for the pro hooligans there? taking it more seriously this time?_niko
    • I don't mind the hand to hand stuff, it's great, it's when they pull out weapons or start head stomping or anything else while someone's defenceless on the grnd_niko
    • as long as they beat the shit out of each other in a gentlemanly fashion i'm all for it lol._niko
    • reminds me of why I love hockey, play hard, maybe have a scrap or two, shake hands at the end and grab a beer lol._niko
    • I respect the polish hooligans, they go into a forest on match day to fight. some will be able to watch the game from a hospital bed, or at least listen to it.sted
