During a period when I prioritized my inner self(learning, thinking, meditating, praying), my inner and outer life improved drastically, then I prioritized my outer life(career, money, possessions, hedonism) both began to degrade, I got scared and gave more importance to the worldly stuff, it got even worse, now learning my lesson and trying to get back to that state again for one last time.
I think the key is not to panic with what world demands and abandon your inner self.
Things work out itself if you are in an awake state.
