I've been using this since 2012. First once got chewed by a rat in my hut in Thailand or a round the world trip a year later (never leave food in your bag!). My second one has lasted me since then with daily use.
Straps saved my ass when I had to clamber out of a glacier and needed both hands, but mostly it's used to carry wet swimming trunks and towel, or jackets that just don't fit inside.
The side pouches mean you just sling one shoulder off and it whips round. You can access it with one hand, which is great for cycling.
