I've never gotten a job through classified/internet listing. Only through personal connections. I got out of school and thought "boy, I am going to make it on my merit and tallent alone!" Three months later I called all of my old professors and any small connections I could grasp...while the term "networking" sounds nasty it doesn't have to be. Just be nice and sincere, something will work out.
