I have a friend who was always a little troubled. South African. Shit parents. No family. Came to England with his only true friend. A kid he'd grown up with... they were like brothers. His friend slowly died in front of him of cancer. That pushed him over the edge and he tried to commit suicide. Failed. Was put in to a mental hospital for 3 months, where he tried again quite horrifically several times to kill himself.

Anyway, the point of my post is that was 3 years ago. He's now been living in Vietnam for 2 years. Has met the love of his life, has a great job and is living the dream in Asia. Very happy and fulfilled.

He thanks himself every day that his attempts were futile.

    Things get better. Things change.

    • I've always thought if I get close to suicide, firstly I'd empty the bank accounts, max the cards, go airport and catch next flight out...shapesalad

    • A fresh start is easier than you think.
