    The domain registrar I've used since the late 90s has finally gotten around to updating their back-end - it's been pretty much the same in all the time I've been with them.

    Part of this upgrade is teh requirement for an updated password - fair enough, the one I use there is comically short and easy to hashbang, if an avenue was provided.

    Except.. they're doign it the retard way:

    contain at least 8 characters
    contain utmost 16 characters
    contain at least 2 digit(s)
    contain at least 1 lowercase alphabet(s)
    contain at least 1 uppercase alphabet(s)
    contain at least 1 special character(s)
    contain only the following allowed special characters: ~!@#*^-$%&()+=_?/{}

    This is, as far as I know, bad practice - especially, in my mind, the 8-16 character limit. Much better to have, say, 128 character limit and let people write whatever the fuck they like. Now I've got to find the magical bowl of porridge that fits this mostly arbitrary criteria.

    shit like this makes me change companies, pointless curmudgeon that i am.
