Visually looked great and how the scenes were set up was also brilliant, and drove the story along well.

However, I found the narrative fairly boring. Most people will already know the story. I think it could had been so much better - having more human focused storylines of individuals e.g. camaraderie, grief and horror - like Saving Private Ryan would have been far better.

Dunkirk flitted between characters, without actually giving me a sense of the how the events of Dunkirk affected them - the emotions they encountered and the human tragedy of the whole thing.

    • I heard one interview that said in war, no one ever gets to even finish a conversation, never mind sit down and talk about their feelings. The lack of dialogueDaveO
    • made me absolutely terrified for them, so scared they can't even talk. I like hgow a lot of it was quite flat, acting wise – like the Scottish pilot, so goodDaveO
