    In MY opinion:

We can agree that we live in a patriarchal society and that men hold a position of power over women. Nevertheless, there’s a difference between macho behavior, sexism, sexual aggression and sexual assault.

A man calling an obese woman a “fat pig” would be sexism because in most cases that same man wouldn’t hold men to the same standards or wouldn’t dare call another man the same name in fear of getting punched in the face. So I would conclude that this would sexist but still not be sexual aggression.

A man complimenting a woman on their attire. “Those are nice shoes”, “That dress fits you well” would not be sexist but macho behavior IF that same man wouldn’t compliment another man in the same way for fear of being perceived as someone who sucks dick. Retrograde in my book but still not sexist nor sexually aggressive.

Telling somebody that they would like to lick or touch their genital parts would be considered sexual aggression (#eatthatass).

Anyone kissing, groping or physically enforcing him or herself on any other person would be considered sexual assault. There’s still a spectrum but all fit the bill of sexual aggression for me.

The issue is that some women are calling all these types of behaviors sexual aggression or sexual assault and therefore diluting the real problem. Making it seem that the #metoo movement is just about “belonging” to a movement. At the same time they are including non-issues in a #thattoo hashtag that is changing the message into something more superficial than it should be.

    • ˝A man complimenting a woman (...) wouldn’t compliment another man in the same way (...) not sexist (...).˝

      It’s only logical.

    • To paraphrase an abused woman:
"What's logic got to do with it?"

    • "We can agree that we live in a patriarchal society and that men hold a position of power over women." Woah there buddy, not so fast. Not inclined to agree...Morning_star
    • ...with that frankly sexist stereotyping.Morning_star
    • "You're such fat pig" is not sexist. I've called even my mother it. If that becomes a no-go term to use then what the fuck, let's just avoid each other!!Ianbolton
