Moore has strongly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that he is maybe "more akin to me than I know [myself]". When asked whether he believed whether Russia interfered in the 2016 United States elections, Moore stated, "Everybody else thinks it's the Russians. I think it was the providential hand of God."[188][189]
