Family Crest of the very powerful indigenous, black, Moorish/European Agg, Andrews, Annesley, Den, Dena etc. A lot of the Andrews came from Egypt, to Greece, to other parts of Europe (England, Ireland) became early governors over here in America with white and black slaves (indentured servants).

Andrewes/Andro - the Picts were the ancient Scottish tribes where the ancestors of the Andrew family lived.

The name Andrews comes from the baptismal name Andros which means “a man,” in Greek. Before dictionaries appeared scribes wrote words according to how they sounded. Spelling variations are common amongst many of Scottish names like Andrews: Andrewe, Andrew, Andrews, Andro, Androe, MacAndrew, Androw, etc. This family name first found in Caithness and associated with the clan Ross. It was first recognized as Clan Siol Andrea, meaning “the Race of the Andrew.”

About 1100 BC the clan moved south to Dumfriesshire area, southwest Scotland. Duncan (Black/brown man) Andrew became chief of the clan and rendered homage to King Edward I of England in 1296.
