    I still think you can replace it, but you have to tear the whole thing apart, not an straightforward procedure. I guess it will be like changing the hard drive on previous iMacs, you have to take the screen out, etc.

    In any case, if you care about these things I'd guess the better option would be waiting for the new Mac Pro.

    • Moldero: Apple has been behind PCs in raw power since the late 90s. Motorola's G4 couldn't keep up with Intel's pentium, IBM's G5 was lagging Intel's Xeon andzarkonite
    • then they switched to Intel but their refresh cycle means they're behind 75% of the time. They only catch up at launch and lose out 3 months later when Intelzarkonite
    • updates their CPU but Apple doesn't...zarkonite
