    evilpeacock:
thanks for responding man, I appreciate the help, perhaps I'm misunderstanding you but it seems like you are set on me expecting something that does not exist.

Just a bit of background here, on this same computer all that I'm asking for was possible 2 days ago (before I formatted and did a clean install), transcoding files was never an option, just let's get out of the way. Prores might work for most standard setups, but that's not what I need these for.

I just need help trying to figure out what am I missing now that I had before I formatted my laptop and that still works on my desktop, that's all I need at the moment.

    :)

    • If you ever had Perian installed for dealing with non-standard videos, that would be one of the causes for this.evilpeacock
    • Also, keeping the old Quicktime 7.6.6 Player around is a workaround for opening "legacy" codec files. https://support.appl…evilpeacock
    • You can re-install Perian and see if that helps, but it *will* cause other issues since it's long since been abandoned. https://www.perian.o…evilpeacock
