Flipping it to the men... could you imagine calling your insurance provider to tell them you want to add "Colon Cancer Coverage" to your plan? "Oh I see sir, you have Colon Cancer then... it's a $5,000 deductible, an extra $350 a month, you can't use it for a year, and we cover 70%."

    But... I have cancer now?

"Sorry sir you should have added that to your policy years ago."

    • That scenario is impossible under Trump's plan, because everyone will be saving for healthcare independently exactly for this scenario. Duh! /smonospaced
    • Instead of paying a flat rate, they only pay when they need it, which is what Jesus wanted.monospaced
    • But for 94% of people, they shouldn't need Colon Cancer insurance till they reach 45 years of age.
      ********
    • That's $105000 savings for each person under 45 if they waited till 45 to invest into such protection
      ********
    • do you not understand how insurance works? An 18 year old pays a different rate than a 30 year old based on risk. There is no flat fee here champ.kona
    • interesting omg - so If I was an American citizen would I now need to keep a spreadsheet up to date for 1000's of medical conditions on when I should get cover?fadein11
    • please tell me how you came up with your 105000 savingskona
    • Previously under Obamacare everyone paid a flat fee. I believe the goal is to make it less wasteful and more affordable.
      ********
    • Of all the 18-year olds, only .1% will actually need Colon Cancer Coverage.
      ********
    • Interesting, can you post your source for the 94% and $105000 in savings? Would like to share this info with some people.yuekit
    • Since I am sure you totally did not make those numbers up out of nothing. Thanks in advance!yuekit
    • Colon Cancer https://i.imgur.com/…

The savings was based on kona's $350/ per month scenario.

    • This thread gave me colon cancerRendle
    • So 94% of new cases (not people) are diagnosed at that age. But what about prevention earlier in life?yuekit
    • A bigger problem with your idea is that if everyone waited until they were old and sick to buy insurance, it would become much more expensive to insure people.yuekit
    • So prices would go up across the board...meaning you might not actually save money by avoiding buying insurance earlier in life.yuekit
    • You're thinking of people as a whole, rather than specific case groups. By grouping cases with butt hurt issues, together they would drive costs down.
      ********
    • You have to look at the whole because that's what determines the cost of insurance. It's not like selling someone a steak or a fake university degree.yuekit
    • An overview like that would make the price of steak the same price as going to school.

    • well done, Rendle :) Fitting right inGnash
