Number one thing to control healthcare costs is to accept the idea you do not need insurance. That one thing is huge. Repeal all obamacare and rules that give market advantages to insurances and tax breaks to companies that provide insurances. To take back the healthcare market you have to have a large decline of the insured. The insurance companies got control of the markets and artifically help inflate prices and create bubbles in areas around complex rules and regulations. There is also a fundamental problem with insurance in that if affordable it creates incentives for poor behavior where the cost is passed on to others (driving prices higher) but non direct. I usually think the only real need for insurance is the big C, but im starting to think that is unlikely looking at life expectancy from cancer treatments in the 70s relative to cost vs now. Im thinking its simply insurance companies striking deals with big pharma to accept the payout for their latest drugs, which is a win win for both of them and a loss for us. And that is the problem when free markets dont work and third party players get the power.
Is it the politicians fault? They can't get hired unless they sell something the ppl want. Who doesn't want the idea of free unicorns and bliss for all. Would a politcian get reelected if he told the ppl they were fucking stupid buying lies of previous fools...
I dont expect any real change in healthcare because the majority of people have been told to many sweet lies, and theyll choose to believe them despite all reason. Humans are funny creatures in the way they can lie to themselves.
