Working on a video that's being displayed across 9 monitors in a unique arrangement ā 42 and 30 inch displays oriented portrait and landscape ā where live action video and graphic overlays are used. The issue we're having and that we anticipated is that our source videos aren't all 4K, so we're stretching 1080 video 3-4x its normal size onto about 10 feet of combined displays, and they're getting blurrier than we'd hoped.
Anyone know any tricks? We are fully aware we aren't going to get more resolution out of these, but maybe some video pros know a way to trick the eye, or help remove the mp4 artifacts that get exaggerated at this scale?

- do you need 4k? last time I did video for a wall of monitors they requested fullHD and some hardware piece 'upscaled' it to fit all monitors together.uan
- We have about 20 minutes of video cut from about 30 different video sources, and about 1/2 are only 1080. I can't get 4K for all of them, unfortunately.monospaced
- We have a prototype wall running all of the 1080 displays in sync; our animator is looking into ways to try to make it look better. I'm just trying to help.monospaced
- and when upscaling footage, apply unsharp mask and then add some grain to mask artifacts...that normally gets u ok material.uan
- another trick is to blur stuff, add vignettes, change colors, aso...just to make it look good. also remember that it will be seen moving and from a distance.uan

- I created something like this a couple years ago, same sort of problem, actually probably a bit more extreme.utopian
- What we did was create effects over a couple of the videos playing on the screens, enlarge video running in a display, pixelated another, added scan lines, etc.utopian
- It actually turned out to be very beautiful and visually intriguing and the client was super jacked with the final product.utopian
- thanks utopian, interesting ideas ... I had assumed all source video would be 4K on this, but a lot of it is GoPro video from the last 4-5 years in 1080monospaced
