I'm wondering why Apple haven't allowed users a text area on the lock screen. Somewhere to put an email address or alternative phone number if somebody finds your phone.

Presently if someone finds an iPhone, theres now way of getting it back to the person because it's locked!

Maybe I should create an app. But Apple probably wouldn't allow it even if I knew how to.

    • privacy issues? I guess one could just create a lock-screen image with that infoGnash
    • love it! was thinking the same you could do for android easy, maybe an ID bubble just floating on the side or like a page curl that you can pull back...robotron3k
    • have it triggered by sms to your phone, maybe it changed the whole lock screen msg better yet, auto prevent power down and notify locationrobotron3k
    • might be cool if it could flash lights if lost or stolen. would freak out a thief as the first action they take is power down.robotron3k
    • if you lose your phone, and you have Find My iPhone set up, you can just send text to the screen remotely with return contact infomonospaced
    • just put a sticker on the back "this belongs to... call this number if found." Of course... you're a idiot if you put the iPhones number on the sticker.fruitsalad
    • i found an iphone last year and had the same dilemma, got the sim card out of it and went straight to the mobile provider. they found the original owner

    • isnt there the medical ID part.. ?autoflavour
    • There is a medical ID true. Not sure if many people know about it though.HAYZ1LLLA
    • Maybe easiest solution is. When you select a photo for 'lock screen' give you the option to write on it. As Gnash suggested.HAYZ1LLLA
    • Ask Siri "Whose phone is this?" - go on give it a try..SlashPeckham
    • @slash: nice!monospaced
    • Oh, interesting Sash. I don't have Siri on ever so can't test. Just need to inform the rest of the world now.HAYZ1LLLA
