that name shit is too confusing.
lets legitimize accounts.this is a rough sketch and I don't know it it works:
- send Email to every user with a link to re-register account or confirm account.
- above links to menu with questions about the user and account like personal details, email, etc...
- possibility to connect with some social media account or something.
- user has to have portfolio or valid website.
- user has to write a short bio about himself to be able to continue to be a valid member
- user details only open to registered members.
- possibility to connect and chat with other members via xampp or any other messaging platform.
here's certainly other options but there must be a way for only legit accounts.
I would prefer to stay anonymous but if's possible to change my original user name I wouldn't mind to connect in a less anonymous way and contribute for a better QBN.
I write this in the Blog thread as I'm not sure if this is a valid suggestion.
cheers!

- my favorite authentication:
user has a penis: fixed / detachable******** - if we tried any of this someone would shout about nazis. people whined when terry was banned, FFS.scarabin
- that said, i'd be down for itscarabin
- Facebook authentication? Only mod can see who they really are. And if they do make personal threat, it make it easier to report to authority.pango
- I can't even keep track anymore of the usernames and who is a troll.capn_ron
- "- user has to have portfolio or valid website."
I've been here since before it was called Newstoday, but you'd kick me out for not having a site I don't need.i_monk - Your concerns are heard. The brain trust will discuss.Moderator
- One idea is to ban any member who has certified a new member who turns out to be a troll. Certification was intended to allow members to vouchModerator
- for their friends that they invited to QBN, not to legitimize trolls and rabble rousers.Moderator
- As long as it's in politic thread I'm fine. That thread is a dump anyway.pango
- @ i_monk: these are kust ideas...for a brainstorming. for sure there's a way for you to stay...LOL! you are a certified non-trolling member :)********
- I always found vero to be respectable. He never cursed at me or called me names simply because he held a different opinion on topics.********
- He posted relevant topics on politics and with his educational background highlighted some interesting issues.********
- Says the person who verified a user everyone said is a troll.pango
- The term troll is often overused to draw an ugly picture. By definition its someone who converses on provocative issues. That is where politics has gone.********
- I was not targeting anyone in particular. just the great mass and confusion and shit that's going on here.********
- What I see are people who fall out of line within discussion to treat and talk to someone with extreme vulgar cruelty and disrespect.********
- @omg - I don't think he was ever 'respectable' as you put it, or respectful. What he did doesn't equate to sharing a difference of opinion...BuddhaHat
- he would post something inflammatory/ factually incorrect/ trollish/ offensive, and if he replied at all, which was not common, it regularly included ...BuddhaHat
- things like 'LMFAO SOUR GRAPES', 'BWAHAHAHA' etc, and failed to respond to serious inquiry on his original claims. That's called trolling.BuddhaHat
- and by 'highlighting some interesting issues with his educational background', are you referring to the 'non-conversation' that was had about the nomination ofBuddhaHat
- Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education, where he talked about working as a teacher for a year before quitting, and using his own bad personal experience to trashBuddhaHat
- the public education system, and use that logic to validate an unqualified billionaire donor without adequately responding to repeated lines of inquiry ...BuddhaHat
- regarding her suitability?BuddhaHat
- And you might be right, the term 'troll' might get bandied around a lot these days, that doesn't make it any less appropriate for him in this case.BuddhaHat
- Not trying to go back in that discussion right now, but both of you guys had some really good things to say.********
- Good things to say or not, the point is, he was incapable of constructing a response that didn't fit with his pre-conceived view of reality.BuddhaHat
- It provoked real cognitive dissonance, which he was unable to process and respond to intelligently. When that happened, he turned troll.BuddhaHat
- what i think works well in such situations is someone tapping a fellow member on the shoulder to say its time to take a break when things get heated********
- I'll agree with that to the extent that things did get heated, he certainly pissed a lot of people off. But again, I'd draw attention to you making a false...BuddhaHat
- equivalence. Other members were not guilty of posting inflammatory contents followed by all caps responses, and as such it's biased or unfair to say...BuddhaHat
- 'whoah, whoah, both sides need to take a breather here', when clearly one person is largely the agent provocateur, and the others are not.BuddhaHat
- If there are going to be rules, then it should be posted somewhere so people understand.********
- But if were just going to kick people out for having opposing views so we can all share this one mind type stuff, then there is no reason for a politics thread.********
- If trying to improve it, we should be able to create sub-categories so everything isn't bundled into one big cluster of non-sense.********
- I'm not sure if you're wilfully missing the point here, omg. It's not that he held opposing views, it's that sharing opposing views requires some give & take,BuddhaHat
- I thought the surprise of political thread was there so the shit stain doesn't smudge everywhere onto other threat.pango
- and when it came to the 'take', or intelligently dealing with a response to the often offensive things he posted, he was left decidedly lacking.BuddhaHat
- both sides needs to take breather so they can both come back with a refreshed mind.********
- Some of the things that drgs, dbloc and set have given me pause, and caused me to consider my position on certain issues, by virtue of the thoughtfulnessBuddhaHat
- maybe a "block" feature would be more appropriate.********
- of their delivery, or by the value of the content that was posted. the same could not be said of the content posted by the person who was banned.BuddhaHat
- oops, that drgs, dbloc and set have posted*BuddhaHat
- omg, you have yet to acknowledge in any way the trollish behaviour of the banned person in question. Do you honestly see nothing wrong at all with the way...BuddhaHat
- he initiated discussions, the way he comported himself, and the way he was unable to respond intelligently to discussion from other users?BuddhaHat
- Not everyone is at an advanced level of discussion. so if someone says "sour grapes" in all caps and that's inappropriate. put them on block.********
- because that in itself should be self-disqualifying.BuddhaHat
- the idea is that you have the ability to protect yourself, from whatever you deem possibly harmful.********
- it's be more fun if blocking wasn't permanent, and there was a timing feature of a day or two.********
- I'll admit to being provoked by it more than once, but I wouldn't call it harmful, nor would I say I need to protect myself from it.BuddhaHat
- I'd call it extremely undesirable, based on lack of merit.BuddhaHat
- it might be more fun for you, as you shared similar positions with this person on a range of issues, but the feeling is not shared by other users.BuddhaHat
- Fortunately no one really gets hurt. But if you're threatened by cyberbullying, then you should be able the right to protect yourself.********
- what, based on your experience, would lead you to think that he would come back any less hateful and divisive after a couple of days time out?BuddhaHat
- any less of a troll?BuddhaHat
- People have the ability to avoid cyber-bullying by leaving; but we don't want to leave; we want the quality of dialogue restored, sans-trolls.BuddhaHat
- and the almighty Moderator has restored a modicum of sanity to the Politics thread by removing an agent of chaos.BuddhaHat
- there's no guarantee with strangers. But amongst people who know each other who get into arguments. They just need a cooling off process.********
- ok, so you've said there's no guarantee. given the complaints against the user, the option of the ban in this case seems to be the correct one.BuddhaHat
- i don't understand what went on. He's also not here to defend himself. all i know is his "sour grapes" thing.********
- i can tell you that he made some noteworthy insightful contributions. even if it was just a laugh or two.********
- i also know he didn't just come to the threads to just antagonize people and bully them around.********
- he did??? like what?pango
- he can't reasonably defend himself, whether he's here or not. that's part of what makes him a troll.BuddhaHat
- what can i say... write down the rules, so people don't break them. he may have been politically incorrect, or controversial, but never abusive or racist.********
- Those are usually what gets people kicked off of twitter. Not punishing them for having an opposing view or breaking unknown rules.********
- "noteworthy insightful contributions"
like what?pango - off the top of the head, i recall a discussion not too long about about Betsy DeVos and he added an educational teacher perspective.********
- there was also plenty of relevant current event posts, and funny posts.********
- lol @ Betsy DeVospango
- you realize omg is a troll right? Thats why he's against it. Like all the other accounts have done. its the same people. look back at previous posts. same shit.sofakingback
- don't waste your time, ignore them and have the moderators take care of it. I think these are great ideas. This place sucks with all the trollssofakingback
- Sofakingback, what do you consider a troll. You really think I was ever a troll in our discussions of your family being from Mexico and stuff?********
- yes of course.sofakingback
- I'm kinda surprised to hear you say that about me.********
- omg: you should take a moment to consider how it reflects on you that you've certified someone who turned out to be an instigator and troll,Moderator
- please explain.********
- If you're not a troll, you have nothing to worry about. That conversation wasn't a troll conversation. keep it that way and no one will have a problem.sofakingback
- @moderator. everyone instigates, and by definition you can call many others trolls as well.********
- especially given you're the owner of multiple accounts such as PaulAllen, KaitlinMcCarthy, HillaryForPrison, and Dystopian.Moderator
- what people call trolls is having an opposing view that triggers their intellectual opinion.********
- but when you post to antagonize... thats trolling. Thats not debate, thats not contributing to this community. There is a very distinguished differencesofakingback
- the realDonaldTrump needed a companion at the time.********
- but none were ever trolling.********
- @sofakingback, you're suggesting that I purposely antagonized people?********
- What do you contribute to this thread outside of antagonizing political posts from multiple accounts? Thats all you do here. This is a design forum, why do thatsofakingback
- "thread = forum"sofakingback
- again you referring to having a different opinion? so you would prefer that i agree with your view instead?********
- "realDonaldTrump" is gone as well.pango
- @sofakingback, i don't see you gracing the pages with awesome design content.********
- and keep in mind, those accounts have been long gone deleted and unused.********
- No.You are not posting any opinion or opening up discussion. You are posting content to antagonize members. Again, outside of political thread conflict...sofakingback
- what else do you do here? Anyway, I've made my point. I hope the moderates take care of all this multiple account mess. Thanks in advance.sofakingback
- everyone posts content that antagonizes someone. if we all held the same beliefs then it wouldnt be an issue********
- it seems only anti-Trump related articles and images are allowed.********
- anti = antagonize.********
- Actually, yes I did for years. Search the recent work.I stopped posting design, my work, my clients names, etc. why would I? this isn't a design forum anymore.sofakingback
- what can you do? not everyone likes Trump but he's our president whether you like it or not.********
- i'd post design stuff, but people just down voted me all the time, so I just stayed in the politics thread.********
- try posting something in design that isn't political anyways.********
- and what can you do when conflict of interest is so bluntly obvious. just roll over right? :Dpango
- Also how do you justify the gag order on scientists?pango
- I justify it like Steve Jobs did with his employees.********
- what needs to be done to centralize public relations when has been over controlled by media.********
- LOL really? are you saying the responsibility of a President and a CEO is comparable?pango
- Alright i'll leave it here. there's really no point. lolpango
- it's pretty close. aside from having a military.********
- OMG just lost his Troll Brother,
show a little respect!utopian - omg the fact you own all those accounts makes you a troll. I've been here long enough to have been subjected to all of them.. so sadmonospaced
- lolmoldero
- mono....i missed that part about all
of the troll accounts...lol @ omgutopian - lol********
- "public relations when has been over controlled by media" like how small his hands were and also the size of the crowd? and alt facts?pango
- whats worse is when your account gets super trolled by an inside job.********
- lol i dont know how poeple get mad at you. i can't even take you seriously.pango
- I woke up this morning as an alternative fact and certified vero_vandal.utopian
- wow - so omg had that many accounts!? and then claims not to be a troll. why would anyone need more than 1 account unless up to no good.fadein11
- right? plus, they were all more extreme than his omg account, like different personalities that make up the alt-rightmonospaced
- realdonaldtrump was just as extremeGnash
- this comment thread was over 50 posts between he and I and he could not concede even the slightest failing on vero's part. troll & defender of trolls.BuddhaHat
- Half the noise was yours, buddha.Gnash
- lol, fadein11 and mono. i barely ever used those accounts and they barely lasted a day.********
- And if you ever did meet any of them, they were always cool people. never mean********
- You means the accounts you created?
....,..?pango - ha - paulallen was a regular fixture troll. your days are numbered. zero reason to have that many accounts... idiot.fadein11
- @Gnash - fact-based noise, mingled with mild abuse.BuddhaHat
- Paulallen was one of the accounts that got hijacked along with Dillinger (the letters 'L' were replaced with uppercase 'i')Gnash
- https://i.redd.it/ee…BuddhaHat
- ^ heheGnash
- Has omg's account been hijacked?pango
- someone had created fake paulallen and dill accounts, not took over the real ones - i shouldn't have used the word, hijackedGnash
- Dillinger was super racist. not sure the original one or the fake one...pango
- ^ the fake oneGnash
- Ip ban the fake one. I don't think there would be objection to that.pango
- it's been done alreadyGnash
- IP Done?pango
- no, i think just the userGnash
- seriously?monospaced
