Rolling your own is not a good idea.
Yes, you can buy hosting, a dedicated IP, a domain, and hope for the best.
But there are still chances you can end up on a spam blacklist. If you send out in bulk, if you send out something that gets flagged as spam, if you have an insecure install of WordPress that gets hacked and starts sending out mass amounts of mail. You're screwed.
Hell, I've even purchased dedicated IP's before that were ALREADY blacklisted, and I had to request a new one.
Done it for many years. It's just not worth the hassle.
