Santa Barbara Public Market is great for lunch or picking up some food to go. Lots of different vendors. And a little south in Carpenteria is Santa Claus Beach, which is pretty nice if you're looking for sand and ocean.

Or drive up through the mountains about 30 minutes north and do some wine tasting. Stop at Cold Spring Tavern (in biz since 1886) or Pea Soup Andersen's. Big fan of Sunstone Winery. Or hit up Grand Ave. for a bunch of tasting rooms.
