What I am struggling to get my head around and am taking a lot of flak on Facebook for is my inability to swallow the idea that this was the Democrats fault.

That rigging the primaries and putting Hillary up rather than Bernie put Trump in power.

Now excuse me if I am wrong but this election proved the US is a v.strong democracy and that MSM do not have as much influence as we thought.

Around 50% of the voters ticked the box that said racist, bigotted, sexist, climate change denying moron.

What is certain is they were not voting against Obama / Clinton foreign policy - noone cal tell me a Trump voter wants less influence in the Middle East and don't tell me they know a better way of dealing with it.

50% of the voters voted for racism / sexism / a step backwards.

Whatever you want to say about them - democrats never stood for that.

Terrfiying now the dust has settled.

Am I making sense? Probably not.

    • Dems lost because they put out a weak candidate. 50% did not vote for racism and sexism, that's ridiculous.IRNlun6
    • I think that they don't even know what they voted for.
      ********
    • Most of them voted for change and ignored the rhetoric.monospaced
    • okay so it's okay to vote for change if the candidates racist. hmmmm. strange value system.fadein11
    • obviously I didnt mean they voted for lynbchings and segregated buses etc and nothing else lol - change for sure. but they voted for a racist candidate and thatfadein11
    • was okay with them. Scary.fadein11
    • you now have a president of your nation who said "grab them by the pussy" - it's surreal. Its horrific. It isnt going to help the US who were already strugglingfadein11
    • The thing with ignoring the rhetoric is, can you really do that? Or do you get the whole hog, good and bad?mg33
    • and were the butt of many jokes post Bush. Its like a joke, no offense. Just seeing him sat in that press conference with Obama. It's like satire.fadein11
    • Have you considered that you might actually be wrong about him and his supporters being racist?IRNlun6
    • Yep I have considered that and I hope it is true. I am not sitting here hoping Trump is a Nazi lol. Trust me I hope for the best. I hope he does well. Likefadein11
    • everyone does. But the outlook isn't looking great.fadein11
    • IRN, it's hard to deny that the racist white population voted for trump, but I do agree that it's wasn't a racist votemonospaced
    • I'm 42 IRN. As long as I can remember Trump has been a pile of garbage. Satire. The butt of every joke and one the wrong end of every accusation and lawsuit.kona
    • No, no I don't think after all that I'm wrong about him.kona
    • and I bet none of you have read any of his books right?
      ********
    • Now swindling people out money = an artful deal is beyond me. Try this the next time you buy something....kona
    • Say you sign the papers to buy a car for 40k. After everything is said and done you don't pay. Like, for months. When they threaten to take it from you...kona
    • you say "I'm not that happy with the car so I'll only pay you 20k." And, because your legal team is bigger and you have more money you strong arm them intokona
    • accepting 20k. That's not an artful deal. That's straight bullshit. Yeah, I read a couple of his books and they're bullshit.kona
    • lol, Trump didn't write any booksmonospaced
    • Actually I stand 100% by what I said the more I think about it. 50% of the voters voted for a climate change denier and a creationist. in the 21st century!fadein11
    • It would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious.fadein11
    • Semantics. Books written about him that he put his name on.kona
    • Michael Moore was right, and he even named the exact four states that flipped. There are racists in that basket, but more than that they're just afraid...allthethings
    • ...of the future, of "them," of losing their status. A huge chunk are from small towns where everybody looks like them. My friends and acquaintances who votedallthethings
    • I don't want to see any racial attacks, but I'm skeptical of photos of spray painting or stories because that can be fake and used to keep pushing the idea.IRNlun6
    • Trump aren't racists, per se, but I've had them say things to me that come close...and they don't like being judged for things that "everybody knows."allthethings
    • I think there's plenty of blame to go around...and it's a fact that Dems made a bad choice. I worked hard to convince people that Bernie gave us a better shot, allthethings
    • kona, he's had what 40+ years of business experience? he's not going around conning people becasue we have safe guards that protect consumers from fraud.IRNlun6
    • but "Trump will kill him on "socialism!" Maybe so, I don't know. I know I get tired of Dems choosing someone more "electable" who loses.allthethings
    • IRNlun6. Please type "Trump not paying" into a youtube search and see all the people he's stiffed over the years.kona
    • mono you know what i meant. there is nothing in those just how he fucked every single person who he wanted, and if he was unable bought their businesses.
      ********
    • And, his 40+ years of business experience has yielded 4 bankruptcies. He'd be worth more had he just invested his $1 million dollar loan from his daddy.kona
    • it's also likely there's instances of bad business decisions, or bad experience with contractors. no one has a spotless career.IRNlun6
    • keep telling yourself that IRNfadein11
    • DNC also had the media (CNN etc) prop up Trump, Carson and Cruz in the primaries to validate the "Pied Piper" candidates. It backfired.instrmntl
    • I disagree that he has bad business experience, but I do think it's a fair argument so we'll see how it pans out.IRNlun6
    • You can't argue that trump hasn't had awful business experience as if it was an opinion. LOLmonospaced
