curious about this
"Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts"
- Health savings accounts are tax-free holding accounts in which you store cash for health purposes only... this puts it on 'you' to save moneyPonyBoy
- won't help a single poor person.Gnash
- nope—that's why the gov needs to do something about pharmaceutical and doctor costs—subsidizing is lame (we still pay via taxes)—need cost to go down somehowPonyBoy
- @Gnash define "poor person" in America. Are they all "poor" because of the same reason? Or because of different reasons?chukkaphob
- This is a way to shit on minorities and the poor. Typical.monospaced
- need to get ppl to stop thinking health insurance is the only way to get healthcare. and start accepting that people die********
- when prices become apparent you will know shit is working. when you can use 5yr old method that is -.005% less successful vs newer w/ 2000% more cost********
- less insurance hopefully less legal looking for loopholes in insurance contracts. the local hospital here ended up just buying the insurance company.********
- shits on the middle class just as much as minorities and the poor, mono...at least u can shield some $ from the paws of the gov & put to your own good usePonyBoy
- and certian non-profit loop holes would help. when they have to spend profits they do it on wasteful ads, and prestige builds which drive up costs********
- so much regulations with generics and what not too. my gf cant get an extra month of birth control in advance if we are out of town because of rules********
- depending on her insurance provider the rates swing from name brand to generic for no reason. she should be able to buy direct liek contact prescription, but********
- cant or the cost is ridiculous or something, which it shouldnt be considering the cost of manufacturing********
- don't ask the country and your fellow citizens what it/they can do for you; ask what you can do for yourself.chukkaphob
- Like get off your ass and get a job for example.chukkaphob
- Of course it hurts MAINLY if not ONLY the middle class. Duh. That's who's paying -- the people who WORK.chukkaphob
- national healthcare/single payer system is the only way. Everything else will be abused and owned by shareholders.formed
- until then, America will never be "great". Can't take care of our own is pathetic.formed
- living in America, being healthy and of sound mind and not being able to take care of yourself is a little pathetic too, formed.PonyBoy
- Chukk's point about getting off one's ass... couldn't agree more. :)PonyBoy
- formed you believe medicare is awesome and without fault? never been abused or manipulated by shareholders (gov)?********
- Wow. So basically you're saying get a job and be ready to pay out the ass for your own health care. Jesus Christ.monospaced
- I'm glad I'm not a freelancer who gets cancer under that program.monospaced
- healthcare for everybody is possible. it does work in canada and don't believe the bullshit that says otherwise.Gnash
- mono... i'm saying part of what you said... ommission below:
**get a job and be ready to pay o̷u̷t̷ t̷h̷e̷ a̷s̷s̷ for your own health care**PonyBoy - Actually Chukka, I shouldn't have said 'poor.' I meant pretty much everybody. How much have you saved for your child's cancer?Gnash
- canada has our medicare and most people have private insurance on top. we pay more as percentage of GDP just for medicare. Lets expand medicare to everyone and********
- only pay what it funds. Done universal care, and most people would buy their own plans on top.********
- we should be able to stretch like a max 18-20% of GDP per year through wait times and selective coverage. you are right we can do it too********
- the'extra' private insurance in canada is provided by employers as a perk. no one 'needs' it for health coverageGnash
- the 'extra' insurance usually covers thing like private hospital rooms, dental care, massages, orthopaedic shoes, glasses...Gnash
- thats fine. we can easily take our larger medicare spending and cover everyone with it instead. we already spend mroe so let lock in the rate********
- ration as necessary, selective care maybe higher doctors at lower wage caps. and employers provide msot secondary care too and we will be canada********
- that is what you are suggesting right? or should we lower percentage of GDP for full coverage to canada levels? i do see now its possible.********
- i understand the quality of care will suffer. competition for doctors will lower. a small group will decide what is covered and what isnt. but single payer! YAY********
- and without spending anything more than we already do since we are blasted for how much we already spend********
- i dont think ppl truly understand what it is they want. jsut a personal utopian ideal not thought out. idc about the details just make that shit pop.********
- think we all know the clients who build things up in there heads and tell a designer and they are like uh sorry. we never think we are ever that person********
- i did exactly as requested. sorry you dont like it.********
- Gnash, this is the last time I will EVER respond to you for making the absolutely heartless statement "How much have you saved for your child's cancer?"chukkaphob
- What a coldhearted wishful evil insensitive prophetically disturbing statement!!!!! How do we have people like you on here? I'm in shock.chukkaphob
- "get off your ass and get a job...ask what you can do for yourself" you should be shocked with your own thinking.Gnash
- and that is an intellectually lazy interoperation of what I said. stick to the COTD thread.Gnash
- ugh. interpretation*Gnash
- gnash im still curious if u would be cool with expanding medicare to cover everyone at existing cots for universal care?********
- I don't have any expertise in this area. I just know from my experience that healthcare for everyone can and does work.Gnash
- those in need are cared for and the world hasn't ended.Gnash
