Well, I guess the suit color and style of suit matter but heres my quick 2 cents:

If you're gonna buy a dress shoe, invest in something good thats well made, classic and useful.

I personally love and own a few pairs of Allan Edmonds, they make a verity of styles that are classic and superbly well made. They feel great, look great and last a long time.

I recommend going to a store and trying them on to see what size fits you best, then order from where ever you like.

They have a bunch of different styles but their brogues are the most popular, from cap-toe quarter brogues to wingtips, they also have different sole options if you're interested in a rubberized sole.

I just ordered a new pair myself: Cap-toe oxfords with Dainite rubber sole, in lovely olive green.

So thats what I usually buy, I also like ted baker and paul smith but those are more style than quality craftsmanship.

I also recently tried Johnston & Murphy, these guys have some nice styles that look like Allan Edmunds but the quality is not the same, these are very different when you actually wear them and see them in person. I checked out some of their high-end models and they were ok. Not like Allen Edmunds though.

But I'll say this, if you need a not so fancy craftsman shoe, this isn't a bad option, because they look nice and they're remarkably comfortable. I'm not sure what their durability is like though...

any way I got these and they are pretty awesome, comfortable as hell. wore them all day walking around and they felt great and still look new.

    • Do not be the guy who wears shoes like this with a suit. Everyone with taste won't think it's creative or cool, just bad fashion. Sorry.monospaced
    • On the other hand you're right. Allen Edmonds are GREAT QUALITY shoes. It's these elections that are bad for dress affairs.monospaced
    • I wouldn't wear the green olive with a dress shoe. Thats just what i recently bought, thats a casual shoe with a rubber sole. Im only recommending the brand.sofakingback
    • Also, the back and white J&M, absolutely wear those with a suit. They look perfect, but you need to have style to pull it off ;)sofakingback
    • sorry: I wouldn't wear the olive casual shoe with a suitsofakingback
    • ummm, the black and white thing is a non starter, and isn't stylish except in that early '90s "I watched Swingers and I like ska" kind of way, which is shitmonospaced
    • but as I said earlier, Allen Edmonds makes high quality shoes, many of which are great with a nice suitmonospaced
    • Ya... not the black and white one. Looks like your are in the band uniform at a restaurant.pango
    • You gotta have style baby, I pull that shit off like money. Casual and with a suit. Not that I care what anyone thinks but chicks dig the fuck out of it! :Dsofakingback
    • I dress with style though, always have. I have a shit ton of shoes, suits, ties, it's been my thing since I was a kid. Own it baby, own it.sofakingback
    • Right right.pango
