They've made non-content even bigger and made the site even slower than itw as already, probably due to bigger non-essential content and additional advertising shit.

    .

I've always been anti-ad-blockers as I appreciate the need for the sites I visit to make an income... however, the contemporary web's getting to the point where if I open two or three instances of 'certain' websites, my browser just locks up for multiple seconds, waiting for bullshit multiples of probably overlapping ad-networks to fill my screen with shite.

I think the Verge has just added itself to that list.

    • Someone did a test comparing how much data it took to open a regular Verge page against one with adblock. The difference was in the MB's. Fuck them.face_melter
    • All sites do shit like this these days - i was just earlier moaning about arstechnica, which uses a 2mb jpg for a 100px-wide author shot..detritus
    • .. http://arstechnica.c… (it's probaly a mistake, but still - a fucking obvious one )detritus
    • it's a shame b/c it's leading to the demise of editorial sites. Visits are down so ads increase, new users abandon b/c of shitty adswhatthefunk
