Really, what else anime and sword play is out there that can touch this. Absolutely phenomenal characters, story and sword play.

Evangelion
Only shit was this a strange ride, I mean I started watching because of the cool mechs and at first it was so light and playful, then holy fuck it turned dark. Left you staring into blank space for a minute after watching the end.
Ghost in the Shell
of course, how can you not. It was the coolest thing to a real movie and anime and comics. The way it was crafted with music and its transitions, epic. P.S. The chase scene always remains in my mind as masterfulInitial D
You gotta give it credit, they had so much driving info and detail it was a car guys heaven. If youre a car nut from the 80's-90s this is of the hook.
Princess Mononoke
I have a soft spot for this flick, the mythology behind the story is awesome and the tree spirits rule
Sleeper pick: KITE
Its a little pornographic, but who doesn't like to see a young assign chick lil a bunch of dirt bags. its awesome.
