Watched episode 1 last night and thought it was pretty good.
I've got a mate who's a real hip hop head and on that kind of forum too and he was saying it was cheesey and slating it from what he was reading about it on the forums but had never watched it.
From the first episode it seemed to me like a cross between Car Wash, Wild Style, maybe a bit of Warriors and those narrated video skits on the GTA games.
It is what it is and it's about as authentic as you can get for something to run on a mainstream channel like Netflix.
If you like a bit of old skool hip hop but your better half doesn't, there's enough in there with the love story and characters to keep her interested. A decent netflix n chill to keep everyone happy.
