^ Would save a shitload of money. So much money gets pissed down the pan during the pitching.
Would also be great for the Greek economy and tourism.

One of the positives that a changing of location gives though is the legacy of that olympics. The stadiums, facilities and accomodation left for those communities.

    • The Olympics influences cities to upgrade infrastructure, but it's not always pragmatic development. Smart cities don't want the Olympics.nb
    • Although I may be biased because of my proximity to Vancouver at the time. Still, seems like Rio, Sochi, etc are seeing this problem.nb
    • < Yeah but how much does it cost to do the maintenance on the stadiums, and do they really do the maintenance on those?Maaku
    • ^ Yes. As they typically use the facilities in Western countries for events and training. We had the winter Olympics in 1988 and still use the facilities builtETM
    • today. The skating facility was built on University grounds, the skiiing facility is public access. Some training has moved to Vancouver after 2010 though.ETM
    • It seems that more and more it's used as a platform for less developed countries to show off and become "part of the gang". A giant pissing contest if you will.zarkonite
