I dislike religions, but if Christianity's about learning from that which Jesus - to my mind a mortal man - taught, then why not make some system of it?
Better that than an entirely agnostic non-structure that has no foundation upon which to sit.
Lessons need parallelisation, need metaphor or analogy - it's the way our brains work.
Sure, don't absolve to some higher ultimate and unquestionable hyperbeing, but don't throw the baby Jesus out with the bathwater...
