Reshoots... never a good sign but then again with Disney at the helm probably trying to make it more cuddly epVII'ish...

    • Old news already! It was a little too dark so they wanted to add some levity and make it "4 quadrant" friendly.ETM
    • old news lol - news broke 3 days ago... did they not sign the script off?fadein11
    • 24-hour news cycle and all.ETM
    • And what does signing off on a script have to do with it? A script is such a basic and fluid framework.ETM
    • Look at Winter Soldier and Civil War to see how much the tone is set by a director, DP etc.ETM
    • haha - and there lies the problem - "a script is such a basic and fluid structure" - so funny was saying this was a majot issue in cinema today - too muchfadein11
    • importance placed on style and concept without the necessary foundations in place - i.e. a kick ass script. So many filmmakers would despise you for thatfadein11
    • comment - a script should never affect the tone and style of a film (although great screenwriters like Schrader etc. gave the director the cues)... totallyfadein11
    • disagree.fadein11
    • To dark? FFS it's Star WARS!!IRNlun6
    • This happens all the time. Script is not/never signed off on. Surprised this movie ever happened. Love Garth Edwards, his films are a joy to work on.mugwart
    • @fadein11 - you actually KNOW any Hollywood film makers? Just curious since you seem to know what they think.ETM
    • And without speaking what filmmakers think, a director's take on the material is a huge influence on the final product... obviously. They do more than sayETM
    • "stand over there" or "with more emotion".ETM
    • But I would digress to the few here who actually work in, or on the edge of the film industry.ETM
    • eh? that's what I said. please look at all the classic films in the history of cinema - it was on the page before anyone arrived on set. Fact.fadein11
    • At what point did I diminish the importance of the director? The good ones write as well and the rest = auteur. Todays mainstream film is delivered by committefadein11
    • exactly like the worst design projects. need more auteurs given free reign and directors who can write! Pls don't ask me who I know in the industryfadein11
    • what I am saying is obvious. I don't need to live in LA to know 90% of mainstream cinema is shit.fadein11
