I heard someone on a train today say they wanted to be an "ointment baron." I wanted to ask what on earth they meant but my phone rang and it was the cops calling back about a crime I saw happen on my block three weeks ago, when three youths were smoking drugs under our neighbor's front door porch cover to stay out of the rain. The crime, of course, was trespassing. I told the officers that I had not seen them return, and that was that.
But the ointment baron thing. I hope our paths cross again because there's got to be a good explanation.
