Gave Vue a try and was going to cut the cord and use it, but Time Warner ended up cutting my bill about $20, making it almost the same price as Vue + 200mbps internet.

Vue was pretty good, definitely worth the price. The downsides are that channels are a little pixelated when switching and take a few seconds to clear up. Also no 5.1 surround sound, but sound wasn't bad at all. Also UI is pretty great, but the channel guide is a weird and using the controller is a little clunky. The DVR feature is also a little rocky – it worked sometimes but not always. Also the On Demand didn't always work either. Could just be first week jitters.

But the channel options are great and I'm definitely keeping this in the back of my mind. Give the 7 day trial a shot and see if it works for you. Luckily I can walk away from TWC at anytime and if I do it'll be to this, unless the DirecTV web option coming later this year is better. But by then Vue might be the option to beat.

    • No 5.1 is pretty much a non starter for me. Sound is half the experience of you're doing it right.monospaced
