I've been doing this for over a year (about 25 hours float time)—so amazing.

It's an eye-opening experience, especially for creatives. The more you go, the easier it is to get into a deep meditative state and you just completely let go. Think about all your design problems, life, whatever enters your head, there's nowhere to run. Plus, you're weightless and you feel like you're floating in space. I've gone in sober, but I'd recommend getting a little irie to really relax and get into the zone.

    • thanks. i mention the weed thing cuz I believe I have a bit too much the in my brain. was on some ringing thought loops for an extended period. moderation..bezoar

    • "creatives", I hate that term.bainbridge
    • I hate when people say, "I hate that term", sounds like a bitch.davey_g
    • couldnt you just meditate?yurimon
    • it is meditation, yuri.scarabin
    • i know what you are saying but real meditation has posture, not lying down.yurimon
    • pull your head out of your ass, man. there are different ways to meditate.scarabin
    • there is traditional way and some combinations of such TM. however some people confuse relaxation as meditation. its like saying jumping jax is yoga.yurimon
    • "real meditation" is whatever works for the individual. saying someone's practice is wrong because it's non-traditional is ignorant.scarabin
    • when i lived at a zen monastery we meditated while walking, sitting, working... to say floating is somehow not a valid practice is absurdscarabin
    • walking, working etc. could be meditative yes. in that sense you are correct, but meditation is specific. did you follow a technique?yurimon
    • yes, many techniques. in the end what your body is doing doesn't matter, it's what happens internally. floating can remove external stimuliscarabin
    • , removing distractions and make the practice more powerful.scarabin
    • you're suggesting that a person with a back injury who cannot sit is incapable of meditation. you are not your body.scarabin
    • I think there is some advantage in specific techniques which in traditional circles has posture and form for a reason. some people confuse relaxation as meditatyurimon
    • however just removing external distractions is not enough if the mind wonders grasshopper.yurimon
    • have you ever experienced Samadhi during meditation?yurimon
    • nobody said floating was the entire practice, yuri. i said it can remove distractions and make it more powerful.scarabin
    • however, conscious relaxation is a form of meditation and i would argue that most people (if not all) entering these tanks are practicing some kind of that.scarabin
    • yes, i havescarabin
    • it's almost unavoidable when you've been doing 9 hours of zazen a day for two straight weeksscarabin
