"but yep, you are arguing about graffiti, in a street art thread on a design forum.. so you must be winning.. kudos."
Was in Berlin last month for a Graffiti exchange program between Serbian and Portuguese writers organized by a socio-cultural association that works with youth centers in Germany and has partnership programs with youth associations in Serbia and Portugal.
The funds for these kind of projects come from the EU.
All writers involved actively paint, or painted, trains and subways...except me.
All of the writers involved paint illegally, even those who don't paint trains anymore.
All writers involved tag.
All writers involved do letters or used to do letters or do letters and characters.
All writers involved know the difference between Graffiti and Street Art.
All writers involved like Graffiti, in different styles, and Street Art.
All writers involved like letters and characters as well.
All writers involved don't give a fuck about certain types of discussions. There where 3 generations of writers and everybody was open minded.
The Serbian crew exhibited a movie about Serbian Graffiti.
Crazy!I knew all Portuguese writers involved, either from university years or from painting together.
And they were not the writer next door, they may not be World famous but they were some of the most active writers in Portugal with trains painted all around Europe.
I was happy to be invited.
It was not a matter of luck even if I felt lucky, it was just the right circumstances, friendships, personality and they like what I do even if it's not "special"...I like Pixação for example.
Who does it says it's not Art and call other writers sell-outs.
I actually can understand such a statement.
And agree till a certain point.I can even understand what that Terry Dude means...
But I think he's wrong.Or at least sounds like a Religious Fanatic that doesn't see anything else.
Just a negative extremism.
That leads to nothing. What I like less is to go paint with people and everybody does its own piece.
You can not mix, you can not go over, you can not even agree to paint with the same color palette...and so on.I like company but for that I prefer to paint alone.
Unless you go illegal and then everybody does its own thing but that's different.
Personally I don't like certain things but what matters is diversity and quantity and stuff in the streets so in the end I like to see everything and give respect to who's active.
I'm not in QBN with my real name but my stuff is to be seen.
I know where I stand and why.I'm not happy the most recent years with my working discipline but I'm working on that.
I respect autoflavour.
I find it very positive and helpful to have internet and access to all this information.I remember the old days.
But I don't have anything against how things are today.I practically quit doing Graphic Design because I don't want to do commercial work in the advertising or selling products area.
Lets call it like that.
I would do some commissioned work if for certain institutions, independent record labels, art projects, social campaigns...
I don't have enough quality to be invited but I don't care.
I'm happy and I have fun.I traveled and met and paint with amazing and crazy people.
Some of them are even famous.
Who cares.
All of them were nice to be with, we had fun and they liked what we did and me as well.autoflavour, don't you care about the way you argued.
Everything is fine man.You seem to be very passionate and committed.
And you know what you are doing and what it means.Don't lose your head or think anymore about it.
Continue to deliver and let this be a learning experience. As for the other dude...or dudette:
I would like to see your nephews letters.
You know, lots of people I know did great letters for years but they grew tired of doing only that.
They started doing other things like characters, painting, graphic design, tattooing, silkscreen, illustration, comics...And they still do letters if they want to.
They just wanted to do something more personal and characteristic.
Develop more their styles into some uniqueness.
And that led them to other creative/artistic areas.Yes, Graffiti are letters.
That's true. But it's also true that you were being a troll and you don't have nothing to show here...just a big trolling mouth.
You know?
Or are you your 6 year old nephew yourself? The thing is, like Raul Seixas said:
You need to know who you are (and how to be the one you are) and you need to know where you are (and how to be where you are).
Raul Seixas was Brazilian singer and a fan of "Love Is the Law".
Whatever I'm starting to trip now...
Bye...- thanks oey.. it means a lotautoflavour
