I didn't hate it completely but don't think the film really added up to the masterpiece Tarantino seemed to think it was judging by the incredibly long runtime and grandiose treatment.
The idea of a minimalist Western shot all in one location had potential, but the "mystery" just wasn't that interesting. It was three hours of talking, half an hour of violence (which basically just consisted of people shooting each other in a small room) and then over without much suspense or payoff. I woud definitely recommend The Revenant over Hateful 8.
