To be fair to JJ I am starting to think this film was ruined in the edit. As a 3 hour film it may have worked out better, more backstory and occasionally slower pace. Not slow like the prequels as if good dialogue and story it wouldn't feel slow.
I think Disney insisted on a 2:15 tops duration for kids.
It may be much better with a longer edit if that ever emerges.- you are obviously way down in the minority with this opinion.CygnusZero4

- smuggler, Vader as the epitomy of evil - it was all v.clear without spoon-feeding pieces of information - the characters were entwined into the plot of thefadein11
- film - it stood alone and as part of a bigger mythology. A lot of the new characters in this film are vague, and you crave for more info as to how they gotfadein11
