Sorry there, missed yr comment micro. AR just wasn't for me...

I really wanted an analog drum synth but 90% of what makes the AR 'instrument' is the interface, which would be fantastic if the synths sounded amazing and were more tweakable... but they're really nothing special. Ended up augmenting them so much with samples that I wasn't using the analog side at all... but, it's a pain in the ass to transfer samples to...

Overall, the AR seems gimmicky in comparison with the other Elektron boxes. The AK is so flexible that IMO it's capable of better analog drum sounds) ... even Overbridge makes more sense with the AK.

Deciding wether to replace it with another A4, some eurorack drums or an Acidlab Drumatix (my 606 is on the way out)

    • Fair enough comments on the AR. Sounds pretty dissapointing. Yeah sounds like you'd be better off just using software like Maschine for drums instead of AR.microkorg
    • My GAS for an A4 still lingers. The monomachine looks pretty good for a all-tricks-in-one-bo... / take-1-thing-to-play... type thing :)microkorg
    • my 2 cents.. i sold Monomachine after 6 months, sounds are too limited.. A4 sent back within the first 3 weeks.. Octatrack kept and love.autoflavour
    • i've had them all except the octo. down to just the AK now. sidstation is the only big regret, sold it in 2005 for £450!kingsteven
    • yeah i am pretty tempted by the AK.. just no budget anywhere for such extravagancesautoflavour
