    ^ lodef - it sounds like you know just as little about Canada's government as the people you are criticizing.

    Yes, Canda elected a "representational parliament", but it also elected a Prime Minister, who chooses a cabinet and runs the Office of the Prime Minister, which chooses the:

    - Governor General,
    - Senators,
    - Supreme court justices
    - Lieutenant governors,
    - Chairpersons of ministerial boards,
    - Heads of Crown corporations

    And more. They are also responsible for holding meetings and collaborating with country's premiers, and are our face to the world.

    So, yes, we did choose a leader. It's silly to think otherwise.
