    Yet if you bring it right down to basics, the political elite of Syria and the middle east in general ride roughshod over the ordinary working people. This whole conflict started over water.

    Asshat made sure his land owning cronies got it all and the local farmers protested because they lost their livelihoods. The Iron fisted response has led to civicl war. The sectarianism just so happens to underline the socio economic situation.

    What did the US do, give them weapons because regime change suits their agenda. Domination of energy markets.

    Because If they'd actually wanted to do something for the people, they'd have given them jobs instead.
