I enjoy reading Motherboard - their tech/science/culture offshoot. The writing style can be sometimes over-familiar and sloppy but the type (and number) of subjects they report on makes up for it. Adrianne Jeffries' work at The Verge was the only thing I paid any interest to, so I was happy to see her escape that shitpile sausagefest of a site.
