This may be a little bias. But this is a blog post from a former apple employee, who worked on the pencil. She pretty much says it's better than a cintiq.

- Problem is lag and memory. I tried Duet (considered the best app) which turns an iOS device into a simple 2nd monitor and even then the performance is woeful.face_melter
- The iPad's limited memory doesn't really allow you to do a lot - witness the reload errors you get on here if the page has heavy content.face_melter
