The mb pro I have (2011) can't handle 4k.
It can, but only with certain monitors, and only at 30 hz.

And, it seems, certainly not with 1 billion colors. So you guys recommending that...how are you getting your monitors to work? Pango, you said you have the same (2011) mbp.
- I don't have the 4k monitor...pango
- Do you need 4k?pango
- My bad. What with the q and the other replies I assumed you did. Don't need 4K. Colors would be nice. Still a bit undecided tho. Thunderbolt is pretty neat. EspPeter
- ecially because I plan to hook up a few peripherals. Put the thunderbolt to use as the mbp is old, and a lot of spread extras over regular usb take up resourcesPeter
- Depends on which model you want. they all have several USB3 ports. if that's good enough.pango
- mbp (2011) doesn't suport usb3. Those have to go through thunderbolt for that kind of data bandwidth.Peter
- ya i don't even have TB. I think i got the one model before you're.pango
