my tests when visiting an apartment I intend to rent,
I often get weird looks, but so far it worked.

    • Never visit an apartment in the afternoon, either before 10AM or after 6PM (the later the better) > unless you're a freelancer you'll never experience it in the afternoon when everyone is either at school or work
    • Open the living/bed room windows while you're there and leave them open during your entire visit > this will give you a good example of the outside noise level
    • window or solid ventilations in the bathroom/shower > fuck mildew
    • don't be scared to jump and land heavily, if it shakes like an earthquake > next because this is probably what you're going to feel when your neighbour walks
    • double pane windows > less noise, less ass freezing during winter, less
    • For the love of god, flush the toilet > I hate toilets that make noise while refilling
    • sunlight during the day > apps like sun surveyor should do the job

(if you have more tips feel free to add some)

    • btw ben, the only apt I ever had that was full of cockroaches was on Cote des neiges, the most fucked up apt experience everGeorgesIV
