I forgot to follow up on this when I got back...

    Cartagena was amazing!

-A beautiful city filled with beautiful people.
-My Spanish is atrocious but I was able to get by on a handful basic phrases and lots of pointing. The locals were patient and accommodating in regards to this.
-Safety was an initial concern but quickly vanished - just have some common sense.
-Food was great/ as cheap as you want it to be. You can spend $1 on a fresh juice and an arepa or $50 for a 4 course meal and drinks at the best restaurant in town.
-Everyone claims to have the "best mojito in town"
-Beer is cheap - $1 is about the average.
-Quality cocktails are cheap (by nyc standards) - an $18 drink here would go for about $7 there.
-It was extremely hot/humid. The pool at our AirBnB was a lifesaver - some days the heat index was up to 118° F with 85%+ humidity.
-City is pretty small so it's really easy to get around on foot. You could easily walk from one end to another in 10-15 minutes.
    -Drinking in public is a-ok.
-Flight was cheap. ~$400RT per person from NYC.
-Exchange rate is pretty great right now - 3,000COP is about 1 USD.

    Overall, I'd highly recommend it!

If anyone is considering going and wants some recommendations just let me know.
