CX, according to the MacWorld magazine i'm perusing (Feb. 2003), it says to try holding down the X key. If that doesn't work, zap the PRAM.
You may also want to try a safe boot (restart. When you hear the chimes, press the shift key until the words Safe Boot appear on the screen. Let go of shift key).
