I used Illustrator mainly Illustrator black/white key line flats and moved them into Flash if basic interactivity was needed to be shown at a half-decent level and then axure sort of sat in the middle. I also mostly ended up creating sequences of Photoshop images and making pdfs with lots of simple explanatory tooltips.
This was for Grand Theft Auto V and IV, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Manhunt 2 etc and pretty much all other rockstar games from the last 9 years I worked on as Lead Graphic Designer.
My tip would be, learn Illustrator INSIDE OUT.
- Ahh, just realised, iGin, you chose well pal!!!! see_thru obviously doesn't have a clue about working in industry that demands immediate, obvious, step-thru...josimar
- ... simple storyboards that explain what will happen when the user interacts. Come see me see_thru, I'll help you out wee man.josimar
- ps, if you need more persuasion, I designed the whole HUD / UI for GTA V in Illus & Photoshop. Thread closed?josimar
- Ahaha, just noticed your reply dude :)
You are spot on! Axure and all are for e-commerce UX. If you design for other kind of product illustrator is unpaired.iGin - Btw, I also use Flash w/ imported assets from Illustrator to prototype UI animation and interaction. Again, this is not for classic corporate and ecommerceiGin
