One of only two drugs I'd always swore I'd never touch, just because I was always 99% sure I could never trust myself with it.

It's made quite a resurgence here in London, at least - especially around here In North London where there's a large Turkish community with the import/export means to get it in cheaply.

I've been surprised and disappointed to see its uptake around here, including at least 4 people I know. All younger than I, but not by much.

They're all still alive, but their lives appear to have gone off at the deep end. One is now living in a squat south of the river - a shitty squat, mind, not a 'good one'. He's blown relationships with everyone up here, with his friends, siblings and parents, and .. well, he's not in a good way. A bit of a nob, I thought, but a smart and engaged guy, really.

Another I know is/was a terrifically talented musician. Was always a bit irritating, but essentially a good guy. Similarly, his situation's mired in the doldrums too. He was kicked out of his house a while back, and now has a rep as a thief.

Besides that we've had the ambulances around here a couple of times over the past 6 months, with hushed murmering of "Heroin, innit?"

    *shrug*

I'd not willingly touch the stuff, ever. Some things can't be done in moderation, for most people. And I mean '99% most'.

    • Actually - if and when I am ever diagnosed with a terminal disease, i'm going to jack right up, yo, jump out of a plane without a parachute, high as fuck.detritus
