The design community in Portland is acctually very limited. There are a few good companies such as www.wk.com
and www.cincodesign.com and some others.... but if you line in Portland.. most likely you have to be realllly good and get in with one of those agencies or become like everybody else..... FREELANCERS... portland is a BIG Freelance market..... Its hard finding a full time job there.
