Killing off magsafe and limiting the number of ports is a behavioural thing, a user training feature: they want you to only use a charger when not using the computer, as you do with an iPad or a phone. Ideally at night. With magsafe, you charged it whenever you could.
Besides, single USB-C hints at a new display that will also work as a charger and a hub.
