    it's totally ok, I use this with a mbp retina 15'' and a dellu3014.
first I thought it was a mistake to get a dell, because of the blurriness, but after applying that fix it works as expected.

The bigger Issue is, that you really get used to the retina thing, so when looking at the normal pixel density screen you start to see the pixels, even if you haven't noticed them for years.

but there was no such thing as an external retina display then, I'm not even sure there is one now. but I thought if I ever buy a monitor again it will be a high pixel density one.

resolution-wise, I set the mbp to full res, that's 3840x2400 pixels on 15''.
the 30'' has 'only' 2560x1600. So actually I have more space on the 15'' screen and tend to make most of the work on the small screen.

    • still on mavericks I must append. don't know about yosemite yet. and pre mavericks I just needed to change the sharpness thing on the monitor to get a sharp image.uan
    • the monitor to get a sharp image.uan
    • You should never turn on any sharpness on a monitor. evermonospaced
